Learning objective:

The content of the course Pedagogical Seminar for MCD 7 consists in systematic deepening of theoretical knowledge and knowledge from the Didactics and Methodology of MCD classes in the form of independent pedagogical practice at selected state institutions (e.g. conservatories, primary art school), in dance companies or in private studios. Pedagogical practice is always preceded by detailed preparation, which is professionally consulted with the teacher of the subject. Subsequent analysis and evaluation (self-evaluation) takes place in the form of a discussion, in which topics such as verbal expression, use of professional terminology, choice of adequate methods, ability to work with music and accompanist, demonstration and professional continuous correction, explication of principles and meanings for technical and artistic growth of students of a given movement and dance level, personal approach and equal distribution of attention to all students, creative atmosphere in the class, etc. are reflected.

Meeting and observing various pedagogical personalities, both domestic and foreign, is essential for improving professional pedagogical thinking and action. Workshops organized by the Dance Department are an integral part of the study. Participation in discussions related to dance education or dance art in general is also expected.

The aim of the study is the practical development of independent pedagogical work. Emphasis is placed on the development of artistic pedagogical individuality and the search for one's own pedagogical manuscript. The student is provided with sufficient and safe space for dance research, the subject of his/her master's thesis, and with subsequent professional discussion. The debate also focuses on key aspects in 21st century dance pedagogy, based on a comparison of concepts from different European and non-European dance schools.

The Pedagogical seminar for MCD 7 is closely linked to the course Didactics and Methodology of MCD, MCD Training.
