Information on the combined form:

The course is taught in a combined form of contact and non-contact teaching in a ratio of about 1:4, i.e. 80 hours of distance learning,

20 hours of face-to-face contact per semester.

The course contains a detailed analysis of the elements of classical dance technique at the basic stage of training - 2nd and 3rd year according to the curriculum of the eight-year Dance Conservatory.

The course is closely connected with the CD Pedagogical Seminar.

The starting point for teaching is the comprehensive and proven A system. Vaganova, which systematically develops the teaching of the elements of classical dance from the simplest form to the mastery of classical dance technique.

At the same time, emphasis is placed on the search for new ways and possibilities in classical dance teaching, as well as on the knowledge of the functioning of the body, building on the knowledge and knowledge from the subject of dance medicine and kinesiology.

The aim is the development of methodical thinking, understanding and comprehension of the principles of classical dance technique, the ability to logically arrange and combine elements of a given stage of training, then to create appropriate enchaînements. The purpose of practicing and analyzing the elements is to learn, fix and develop pedagogical approaches in accordance with the ability to create an appropriate creative and communicative atmosphere.

Thematic areas - analysis of new elements à la barre and au milieu

à la barre:

Teaching the basic elements and poses in épaulement and relevé positions, demi and grand rond de jambe at 45°, and 90°,, double rond de jambe en l´air, flic flac without spinning, pas coupé, pas tombé in place, temps relevé at 45°,, battement jeté passé at 45°,, turns to and from the bar, pirouettes from V. and II. position

au millieu:

Gradual transfer of the teaching of all basic elements and poses from the bar to the freedom in the épaulement position, all types of pas de bourré without spinning (simple, ballotté, dessus-dessous), basic forms of port de bras, pirouettes from V, IV and II positions, pas de basque, pas balancé

Learning outcomes

As a result of learning, the student will have both practical and theoretical knowledge of the methodology of the basic elements of classical dance technique (1st year).

activities outside the contact teaching - study of literature, observation of dance class including written reflections, searching for resources on YouTube, presentation of own pedagogical practice.

Note

The course combines monological, applied and interactive teaching methods, encourages self-study in the context of non-contact teaching and student's critical thinking. The student is encouraged to create his/her own portfolio based on the acquisition of his/her own experiences and skills.

Distance contact will be provided:

• phone, email, video calls
• through group platforms for communication between students (social networks, internet, apps, moodle, etc.)

Independent work of the student within the framework of contactless learning:

• Preparation of a seminar paper (scope min. 5 pages)
• Study of literature:

Studying selected literature is one of the basic tasks of self-study, students will be assigned specific topics to study based on various sources. In contact teaching, students will analyse, compare and apply the knowledge acquired in class, subjecting it to their own critical thinking.

Topics will be selected in relation to the material discussed in the classical dance methodology of the stage of instruction.

Examples of topics:

• Preparation and conclusion of exercises, endurance
• warm-up, tension release, stretching
• mutual correction of pupils and recognition of the principles of the elements discussed
• transformation of the rhythm in the practice and execution of individual elements
• Internet resources:

Internet resources, especially YouTube, will be used for further information gathering, where students will again search for appropriate links (at least four per topic) to the given topics, which they will pass on to each other and apply the acquired information and knowledge in contact practical teaching.

• Observation:

Students will visit at least twice a semester a professional dance school-conservatoire and a school-studio engaged in teaching classical dance for amateurs and prepare a written reflection from the lesson visited in the scope of at least three A4 pages. The specific place and teacher-lecturer will be determined during the consultation at the contact teaching, the selection will take into account the fact that the visit to the school facilities will be as convenient as possible for the students.
