The content of the Modern and Contemporary Dance 2 training course is designed as a practical dance class, which is an introduction to modern and contemporary dance techniques. It addresses the connection of movement content in terms of its functionality with movement form and the application of the acquired movement experience to movement forms.
Specific topics for gaining physical experience are the movement principles of modern and contemporary dance techniques and their specific movement qualities. Thematic improvisation, movement games, dance combinations or various touch techniques are used as forms for movement exploration. Part of this course is to follow the Czech and international dance scene.
The goal of the course is to gain physical experience tied to specific movement themes that can be transferred and applied to movement forms across modern and contemporary dance techniques. In doing so, the course offers practical preparation and subsequent support for teaching traditional modern and contemporary dance techniques.
Thematic areas:
The starting point for the teaching of Modern and Contemporary Dance 2 is the functional body posture and settings and the general principles of functioning and conscious perception of the body in space-time.
The content of the course consists of:
Conscious perception of space
Functional position and conscious perception of the body at rest and in motion
The centre of gravity and its movement in space
Centre and extremities pattern of opening and closing)
Basic movement principles: yield/push, reach/pull
Spirals
Movement qualities, muscle tone, effective and ineffective tension in the body
Learning outcomes
Practical knowledge of basic and advanced elements of modern and contemporary dance techniques and physical readiness to be able to do quality pedagogical work. The student will gain physical experience tied to specific movement themes, principles, and movement qualities.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Credit is awarded based on active attendance, oral and practical verification of understanding of course content, and level of physical mastery of course content.
