The aim of the course is to provide experience in teaching at conservatories, application of theoretical knowledge in the preparation and presentation of teaching content, acquisition of pedagogical skills in communication with students, lesson organization, evaluation, etc.

Thematic areas:

The course is of a practical nature, it is closely related to the Pedagogical Practice of Dance Theory and History 1 and the course Didactics and Methodology of Dance Theory and History. In the second semester, it consists of independent teaching of dance history and theory at a selected conservatory (in different years) and its reflection and evaluation (discussion with the teacher and the conservatory teacher, or with the conservatory students).

Learning outcomes

Students gain practical pedagogical experience, verification of didactic and methodological knowledge in practice, development of communication skills.

Literature

Professional dance theory texts (historical, theoretical); iconographic materials.

Video recordings of dance and choreographic works (YouTube, collection of video recordings from the Kylián Archive and HAMU video library).

Internet resources on the history and theory of dance.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Credit for practice (teaching in specific years of dance conservatories).
