Contents

The content of the Pedagogical Pre-seminar course leads to gaining practical experience with various pedagogical approaches, forms and tools of teaching (movement games, touch techniques, technical training, training as a research activity) and acquaintance with basic pedagogical skills.

The prerequisite is also an interest in theoretical information, i.e. reading recommended literature and supplementing new information via the Internet, making an effort to become familiar with current developments in the field of dance and dance pedagogy (monitoring and comparing teaching methods of different teachers) and choreographic field at home and abroad. A recommended component is active participation in dance-educational seminars and workshops organized by the Dance department or other professional institutions.

Classes are held in collaboration with 1st and 2nd year Modern and Contemporary Dance students.

The aim is to learn different ways of thinking about the body as a structure and the body in motion. The course offers space to develop one's own creativity, intuition and imagination based on specific movement assignments or improvisational exercises. In this semester, students are purposely encouraged to verbalize their experiences and to evaluate objectively (and self-evaluate), to seek inspirational sources and to have hands-on experience with different teaching methods and pedagogical approaches.

Learning outcomes

Students learned to verbalize their own movement experience, to gain practical experience in the role of a teacher with the application of various forms and means of teaching in relation to the topic, i.e. to understand their meaning and purpose.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Credit is awarded on the basis of an oral and practical test of understanding of the content of the course, and a written essay on a given topic.

Other requirements: 80% attendance, activity in class, portfolio development, reading of recommended literature.
