Course contents
Course Description:
The Documentary workshop is the main professional course for Documentary Dept. students. The focus of its content is the most intensive communication with the workshop lead instructor.
The Documentary workshop is an group arising from the mutual choice of the students and instructor in which free creative impulses arise and in the process of creation are developed into a particular project in an atmosphere of working cooperation, instructively effective communication of professional experience in all phases of the work and open discussions in which personal viewpoints, artistic manifestations and individual signature are refined and consolidated.
The basis of the work is proper analyses of student subject matter in collective and individual workshops, discussions over their potential social and artistic effect and a systematic presentation on how to proceed in their implementation.
In the phase of creating the piece (shooting and composition finishing) the instructor analyses material, primarily in the editing room.
The Documentary workshop guides students to no fall into professional habits but to try through finding their own style to suprise not only the audience but themselves as well.
It provokes them to checking manners of how to understand current events and periods in which we live and an ability to reflect them in film.
The difference in the master's series, as opposed to the bachelors, is greater student responsibility to the creative team in developing the service of their younger colleagues in the role of and experienced mentor.
Topic scope:
- creative discussion. The environment guarantees security in investigating formulation and structure elements of film langugae and offers critical review.
- Topic probe. MIrroring the prepared film. Thought out reasons and potential recording of a piece in social contexts.
- Detailed analysis of creative work. Looking at layers of directing practice. Checking style and scale of its priniciples
- Originality. On-going checking of motivation for creativity. Developing personal film language.
