Each seminar will have a section where students will analyse a doc. film of their choice

Learning outcomes

Seminars in the second semester will develop further the systematic preparations of Camera Dept. students to position as the DoP for shooting a documentary film.

We will discuss basic lighting principles and use of evailable light in documentary genres.

Different formats and styles of shooting in ragrd to the size of the project and the crew will be also discussed.

We will analyse different approaches to documentary film and different modes. The screenings of excerpts of relevant examples will continue and also the the students will bring their own picks for discussion.

Besides the regular seminars there will be seminars with international and local gusts and mentors. These included in the past Joao Atala, Brazilian cinematographer of an Oscar winning documentary, Samir Luma, cinematographer of Honey Land and others.

Prerequisites and other requirements

The students will watch the films in their entirety selected for this seminar prior to the analysis sessions in order to formulate their opinion on the narrative and camera style.
