CAE Exam Preparation is a course focused on developing the language skills necessary to pass the Certificate in Advanced English (Cambridge ESOL exam, at level C1 of the CEFR). It focuses on grammar, vocabulary, writing techniques, vocabulary development, and speaking skills.

Learning outcomes

This course aims to give students the necessary grounding to pass the CAE exam by improving their writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills and exam strategies for the four exam sections: Reading and Use of English, Listening, Writing, and Speaking.

Prerequisites and other requirements

The course is not intended for students whose mother tongue/official language is English.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Course grading scale:

•A (100-89%) excellent performance exceeding the relevant criteria

•B (88-80%) above-average performance with a minimum of errors

•C (79-73%) average performance with an acceptable number of errors

•D (72-66%) acceptable performance with a greater number of errors

•E (65-60%) performance representing minimum fulfillment of the criteria

•F (less than 59%) unacceptable performance

Note

Attendance is a prerequisite for sitting the final exam.

There is no class on 30 Ocotober - there will be a makeup class in January - TBD

The course is not intended for students whose mother tongue/official language is English.
