Information on the combined form:
The course is taught in a combined form of contact and non-contact teaching in a ratio of about 1:4, i.e. 80 hours of distance learning,
20 hours of face-to-face contact per semester.
The summer semester includes intensive concentrated block teaching of the main subjects.
Teaching of Modern and Contemporary Dance 2 is designed as a practical dance class. It focuses on cognition, perception of the body and functional dynamic adjustment of the body in movement. It introduces students to various methods of movement research and the application of acquired movement experience to movement forms.
It is based on the movement exploration of specific topics and offers space for finding ways to grasp the possibilities of movement exploration and how to create simple or more complex movement forms from the knowledge and movement experience gained in such a way that they stimulate functional content through their form. Specific topics for exploration are the movement principles of modern and contemporary dance techniques and their specific movement qualities. Thematic improvisation, movement games, or various touch techniques are used as forms for movement exploration.
The course is closely related to the content of the courses Pedagogical Proseminar and Fundamentals of Movement Training. It is taught in two semesters.
The content of the course consists of:
movement principles: release/push and reach/pull
movement qualities
perception of pulsation and dynamics
spirals
Coordination
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to develop the skills to use the possibilities of movement exploration on a specific movement theme to gain physical experience that can then be transferred and applied to movement forms across modern and contemporary dance techniques. In doing so, the course offers preparation and subsequent support for teaching traditional modern and contemporary dance techniques.
The movement principles and specific movement qualities of modern and contemporary dance techniques are the starting point for teaching Modern and Contemporary Dance.

Evaluation methods and criteria
The examination is awarded on the basis of active attendance, oral and practical verification of understanding of the content of the subject, the level of physical mastery of the content of the subject, presentation of own technical exercises, movement or dance games according to the specified age category on one specified topic. The examination includes a seminar paper of 5-6 NS on the assigned topics. The student will also provide examples of music or visual arts that reflect the topic selected and worked on by him/her.
Other requirements: 100% attendance, activity in class.
Note
Teaching combines monological, applied, interactive teaching methods, encourages self-study in non-contact learning and student's critical thinking. The student is encouraged to create his/her own portfolio based on the acquisition of his/her own experience and skills.
Distance contact will be provided:
- phone, email, video calls
- through group platforms for communication between students (social networks, internet, apps,
moodle, etc.)
The student's independent work within the contactless learning consists of:

- application of the themes to his teaching practice, which he consults with the teacher of the subject
- elaboration of a seminar paper in the range of 5-6 NS on the assigned topics
- finding an example of music or visual art that reflects the themes they have chosen and developed (part of the portfolio)

Movement qualities (selection of two of the above movement qualities)
Spiral and spiral movement around the central axis of the body
