Course Objective:
A course in which students carry out their own dissertation project under the guidance of an advisor (or a specialist advisor). Systematic creative or research activity is demonstrated by the completion of the corresponding section of the written or creative dissertation in accordance with the ISP, or by the production of other relevant forms of output (demo recordings, research, sketches, journals, data sets, notes).
Thematic Areas:
Composition, performance, production, and sound creation, as well as their broad interdisciplinary overlaps in the context of contemporary artistic research.
Learning outcomes
Depending on the nature of the ISP, this primarily involves
- the realization of the final form of a work, a series of works, or interpretive performances that, in terms of their significance, correspond to a completed dissertation project. A clearly articulated creative vision is demonstrated, consistent with a developing creative personality. The creative output is characterized by both high technical quality and, in particular, a distinctive grounding within the relevant contemporary creative scene, both domestically and in an international context,
- the completion of the final draft of the dissertation text intended for the doctoral defense,
- fulfillment of the graduate profile in terms of theoretical knowledge and methodological skills within the broad context of contemporary discourse in the field.
Prerequisites and other requirements

A doctoral student preparing for the dissertation defense presents the results of their research or artistic work for the given academic year to the departmental committee, in accordance with their Individual Study Plan (ISP). If necessary, the doctoral student justifies any changes to the originally proposed plan of study. For full-time students, reviews take place on a semester basis, while part-time students are subject to a review at least once per academic year.
