Course Objective:
This is an open lecture framework designed to enable students to participate in specialized training specifically related to the broader context of their dissertation topic. A specialized lecture may be assigned by the departmental committee, or students may choose it themselves. Such a lecture may take place at their own faculty, at other faculties, at universities, at home, or abroad.
Thematic Areas:
These relate to the subject of the student’s own doctoral research in such a way that the research topic itself is viewed through the lens of a broader disciplinary or interdisciplinary discourse.
Specialized Lecture 1 typically consists of a shorter, one-time lecture series, module, or workshop, whereas Specialized Lecture 2 typically consists of a full-fledged year-long lecture series or, alternatively, two semester-long series.
Learning outcomes
The doctoral student shall submit a brief reflection (1-2 pages in length) as a basis for evaluation by the departmental committee, focusing in particular on the connection between the knowledge acquired and the specific topic of the theoretical or creative portion of the dissertation. The doctoral student will defend the relevance of the lecture they attended, primarily from the perspective of a thorough academic exploration of specific aspects of their own dissertation research.
