Contents

Participation in the creation of the National Theatre production as an assistant stage designer and subsequent reflection on this process. Involvement in the creation of the production in a professional environment, including all important on-stage meetings and rehearsals. In this case, the student is not the artistic author of the set design, but in the position of assistant stage designer, the student completes the entire process of creating a production within ND from concept presentation through design handover, production, and main and dress rehearsals to opening night. The written analysis of this experience should primarily reflect the issues of the development of the scenographic design from concept to final form and its function within the overall production.

Learning outcomes

During this course the student gains the ability to work technically in a team of collaborators. Assiting proces trains the student highly in stage managenent and in understanding priorities and possibilities within tealising a scenic design as a part of complete stage work from the beginning on. Each step of the creation and realising of scenic design is being observed and reflected by the MA student. This part of education is highly important in the proces of becomming a professional in scenography.

An examination of the knowledge and experience gained during the creation of the production and an oral defense of a written work reflecting on this process.
