Contents

The student is introduced to the basics of film lighting. This course builds on his term paper and interior decoration, which he tackles as a construction in the atelier. This decoration is consulted with the teacher in terms of lighting and placement of light sources. The student discusses the lighting plan of the decoration and creates a simple floor plan for the placement of each key light source. The presentation is designed to best communicate with other members of the film crew, from creative to fully technical professionals.

Learning outcomes

At the beginning of the semester, the teacher not only assigns the topic of the project but also sets a minimum scope, with the understanding that only when this minimum is reached, the project is evaluated at all. The student presents his/her work to the evaluation committee during the final semester presentations. He/she introduces the teachers to the content of his/her project and then describes the individual artistic designs in detail, explains the proposed technical solution, and answers questions from the committee members. Upon completion of the coursework, the student creates a digital copy of his/her work, ideally in a .pdf file, and submits it for archiving.
