Contents
Theory lectures describing the history of world animated film. Screening. Commentary.
Students should be acquainted not just with history of animation from early years but also with differences not only between America and Europe but among individual Masters of animation in different national cinematographies till 90ties of the 20th Century. The aim is to understand roots of this special art and serious historical tasks it had in the past in different parts of the World.
History of Animation is a subject for more than 1 semester only. That´s why this one semester subject at FAMU is some kind of introduction into history of animation - the rich Czech and foreign panorama of Animated Films.
Learning outcomes
In the field of knowledge (K), the student:
- enumerates, analyses and interprets important phenomena and works in history and contemporary production of animated film P_K2
- knows greatest representatives of world animated film P_K4
- is able to compare using puppets in a theatre and in a film P_K2
In the field of skills (S), the student:
- understands the idea of construction of scenario in context with animated films P_S2
In the field of social competencies (SC), the student:
- is open towards diversity of historical and contemporary phenomena of animated film, is able to use them in puppet art P_SC1

Evaluation methods and criteria
The most important for student´s achievement in this subject is his/her regular attendance at lessons. Some of animated films student could see in the school library, but many of them could see at lessons only.
