Study results:

Students independently learn to execute a film which corresponds to the genre assignment „portrait“. Students expand skills in formulating and thinking through a topic, prepare literary basis (theme and script), communicate with the crew (production manager, cameraman, sound designer and editor), setting with them their creative vision but allow themselves to be inspired by the perspective of other professions

Course description and topic scope:

Documentary Dept. group practice exercise - preparations take place in the „Execution Workshop 1.2“ and technical parameters of the exercise are determined by the production list in the Studio FAMU White Book - se https://www.famu.cz/cs/studio-famu/dokumenty-vyrobni-listy/.

A film portrait of a person. The piece must combine differing documentary elements with stylization. The film is to present questions and through the process of documentary shooting answer those questions. The work is iterative. After research and formulation of topic follows inspection, the requirement for shooting is a writtten theme and script presented at the Theme Audit, a shooting plan approved at the Execution Council. After shooting follows an analysis of rough material, supplemental shooting, editing, image and sound post-production.
