This course examines how pre-production technologies are changing filmmaking. Students will learn about creating and utilizing digital copies and scans of locations for pre-production planning, enabling virtual scouting, set design visualization, and lighting experimentation. The course explores techniques for capturing real-world environments and transforming them into digital assets for production planning. Additionally, it addresses the growing presence of generative AI in the industry and how to effectively navigate this changing landscape. Students will understand how these technologies have evolved and where they're headed, preparing them to adapt to the tools that are becoming standard practice for filmmakers.
