Atelier exercise
Students adapt the assigned script for the realization of the pre-defined set built in film studio. Students analyse the script, seek a creative interpretation of its meaning, and finds a way for conveying it using the tools of the audiovisual expression.
It is an exercise in which all students participate.
Learning outcomes
*Atelier exercise**
- Learn how to interpret the existing dramatic text by the process of its visualization.
- Will understand how it is possible to find own creative voice in the adaptation of the existing dramatic text.
- Learn to work within the limits set by existing scripts.
- Practice the work on the film studio set.

Evaluation methods and criteria
The Atelier exercise is divided into the following 8 working positions:
Directing
Cinematography
Sound
Set design
Screenplay
Assistant of Director (AD)
Production
Editing
Positions can be combined if there are less than 8 students in the class.
Public screening: the student receives feedback from invited teachers and film professionals.
The same grade will be awarded to crew members who were actively involved in producing the film in their respective positions.
Individuals may have their grade lowered due to lack of involvement in the preparation of the film, active participation during the shooting, or non-attendance at the seminar.
The grade is awared by the subject teacher (mentor).
Note
- Technical parameters of Atelier exercise: The equipment list is given by the production sheet (“White Book”) of the exercise. Students must choose from the shooting dates pre-selected by the Studio FAMU production office.
