Exploring analog as well as a digital medium
Discovering the extraordinary in everyday life.
Establishing strong characters
Creating a mise en scène
Acquiring the ability to communicate with the cast and crew
Discovering the importance of post-production

Learning outcomes

The hands-on practical class is geared to both beginners who desire to learn more about filmmaking as well as seasoned filmmakers who want to develop the craft of visualization. This semester-long course is modeled to help students find magic in the mundane while learning about essential filmmaking skills that will help them discover how to guide a film to completion including:

Breaking down a scene
Blocking the action
Effective shot selection
Directing the performance
Fine-tuning the story in post-production

Students are encouraged to bring their analogue cameras (if they have them). If not, just their phones will do.
