Learning outcomes of the course unit

All issues regarding flute playing - fingering technique, intonation, proper breathing and interpretation are improved on more demanding etudes with and emphasis on those deficiences which have not yet been mastered. When single staccato is of a high quality, double staccato is improved.

  1. More demanding etudes for fingering and rhythmic precision - Jeanjean, Tomaszewski, Tillmetz
  2. Double staccato is improved and different types of tone release are improved.
  3. More imaginative recital pieces - student use their own music ideas - Martinů, Migot, Quantz, Richter, Rivier, Andersen, Casella, Honegger.

Course contents

This course provides the student with technique, tone quality, intonation, performance skills such that they will succeed in orchestral, soloist, chamber work. The future artist is guided to independence, the realization of their own ideas and the defense of their thought. This is the basis of instruction. The development of the personality is the priority. All issues regarding playing the flute are improved in etudes by Jeanjean, Tomaszewski, Tillmetz with an emphasis on the deficiencies which have not yet been mastered. If simple staccato is not in order, a path is found for its improvement. As well a way to clear double staccato is investigated. Recital compositions are oriented toward works with greater imagination where the student must use their own thoughts and ideas - Martinů, Migot, Quanty, Richter, Rivier, Andersen, Casella, Rivier, Honegger.
