French director and screenwriter of Bosnian origin Lucile Hadžihalilović is one of the most original voices in contemporary European cinema. Her visually captivating films are characterized by their ability to build a unique cinematic universe and by the precise depiction of a dreamlike, often disturbing atmosphere. In her work (e.g. Innocence, Earwig or the latest La Tour de Glace), she reflects on the themes of isolation, adolescence and the transformation of the body, often told from the perspective of children's characters. Her films regularly receive nominations and awards at festivals in Berlin, Toronto, Cannes and San Sebastián. She is long-term collaborator of the director Gaspar Noé, with whom she founded the production company Les Cinémas de la Zone in 1991, and has worked on many of his films as an editor and producer. She is one of the most important contemporary French filmmakers.
