Contents
Danish cinematographer and photographer Manuel Alberto Claro, a frequent collaborator of Lars von Trier, will present a film screening of Melacholia (directed by Lars von Trier, cinematography by Manuel Alberto Claro, ACC DFF) on 03 April 2024. The screening will be followed by a masterclass in the form of a moderated discussion with the film's cinematographer on the topic of camera movement and hand-held shooting.

Lecturer’s Biography:
Manuel Alberto Claro (*1970) is a Chilean-born Danish cinematographer and photographer. After studying photography in Milan, he worked as an assistant photographer in Europe and the US. His career in Cinematography began in 1997 when he enrolled as a student at the National Film School of Denmark, where he graduated in 2001.
As a director of photography, Manuel Claro has lensed about 20 feature films, and several of them have won international awards. He is known for his frequent collaborations with Lars von Trier, which have resulted in films such as Melancholia, Nymphomaniac, and The House that Jack Built.
He is an active member of the Danish Society of Cinematographers (DFF) and a honorary member of the Association of Chilean Cinematographers (ACC).
Evaluation methods and criteria
100% participation in the masterclass and film screening. Proof of participation by signing the attendance list in the Studio FAMU Reference Projection on April 03, 2024.
