The name of this lecture - Touch the Sound – is not meant as a metaphor. Rather we will try to take it literally, so the “non-sound designer” students will try for themselves to create the sound for cinema. Via this personal experience with sound, the students will feel for themselves the potential of sound to convey different meanings in context of highly complex cinematic signs.
During the semester students will be given three practical assignments. The first will be storytelling through sound itself without the picture. For the second and the third assignment, students will be provided with the short movie to experiment with sound.
The lecture is primarily designed for students without any specific knowledge or experience in sound engineering. Nevertheless, the students of sound are also welcome as they can spot their medium from different perspectives.
