Learning objectives:
The aim of the lessons is to enable composers to deepen their performance skills or to gain a foundation in playing their chosen instrument in the context of their compositional activity.
Thematic areas:
Examples of course content:
- the student plans to write a composition for e.g. percussion and would like to get a practical introduction to playing percussion instruments. The student will then contact the head of the percussion department, who may involve one of the doctoral students in the teaching.
- during the semester, the student plays a composition by a classmate on their instrument under the guidance of one of the teachers, which he/she performs at a concert of the department
The course can be enrolled in repeatedly.
Learning outcomes
The student has improved his/her technical skills or has acquired the basics in playing the chosen instrument.

A student can enrol in this course only if he/she has arranged lessons with a teacher beforehand.

A student can enrol in this course only if he/she has arranged lessons with a teacher beforehand. Credit examination will be awarded based on the completed performance of the piece in concert, or by activity in class.

Two parallel courses are available:
Shakuhachi (Marek Matvia), classes on Wednesdays (room 2020) 3:00–4:30 p.m.
Group lessons in playing the Japanese shakuhachi flute, working with the body and breath. Introduction to the unusual Japanese musical aesthetic. Instruments available for loan for a refundable deposit. Maximum 5 students.
Violin (Slavomír Hořínka), Tuesday (room 2016) 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Individual lessons. Beginners are also welcome. Violins can be borrowed from the department. Max. 2 students.
