15 November 2024 Part 1

- Introduction to tools (projector, camera) and materials (films, light sources), film laboratory
- Examination of the archives of the Department of Documentary Film Production of FAMU / own archival materials; work on the editing table and with the film projector
- Debate on possibilities and ideas
- Practical manipulation of the projector and evaluation of its possibilities
- Preparation for tomorrow's full-day workshop
16 November 2024 Part 2
Time: 10:00 - 18:00

- Self-screening of film materials, reshooting the archive with a 16mm camera in a performative way
- Exploring different shooting and projection parameters: different speeds, lenses and modulators
- Processing of film material: developing black and white negative
17 November 2024 Part 3

- Projection of newly created materials
- Hand copying (so-called flat print), exposure with various light sources and other interventions (e.g. solarization) in the film material in the photo chamber
- Developing, editing or assemblage
- Final projection
The module is open to students of MA programmes in Czech and English.
Teaching will take place in English.
Learning outcomes
- Introduction to the work and feminist approach of Anna Salzberg (masterclass and feature film)
- Introduction to creative, often activist, collectives and their possibilities and outputs (a series of shorter films from the collectives)
- Introduction to the role of community in art/cinema
- Production of a 16mm material collective film based on the reappropriation and remediation of found (researching the film archive in the KDT screening room) or own (archival) film materials
- Experience with film projection, film lab and direct film interventions

Literature
Biography of the lecturer:
Anna Salzberg (*1980) is a French documentary and experimental filmmaker with background in literature, social and political science. She works as film director, camera operator and sound editor and has also directed sound documentaries for ARTE Radio. Anna often mixes filmic forms and approaches such as film essay, auto-ethnographic diary or film journalism, as well as different media and formats (Super8 and 16mm film, digital video). She is member of several activist and feminist creative collectives such as the Scotcheuses, collective that films and records in places of struggle, and La Poudrière, Feminist collective of Experimental Filmmakers, founded in 2016 and based at artisanal experimental film laboratory L’Etna. Besides L’Etna Anna is also member of the artist-run film lab L’Abominable, currently under transformation into artistic and patrimonial project Le Navire Argo within the space of former film laboratories Éclair.
Since 2006, Anna has been running various film and sound workshops with children in her neighborhood, with women in prisons, in emergency shelters and with students in high schools, colleges and universities (practical workshop of experimental cinema at Université de Picardie Jules Verne in Amiens, 2023).
Evaluation methods and criteria
The condition for obtaining the credit is 100% participation in the days 14 - 17 November 2024. Proof of participation by signing the attendance lists.
